Hi there,
The valley has properly woken up. The sunshine has finally arrived and with it comes that familiar shift in energy across the farm. The animals are now back outside permanently, the grass is moving again, and spring calving is in full swing.
There’s something incredibly grounding about this season. New life arriving in the fields. The mornings getting lighter. The land beginning to breathe again.
Of course, spring farming also comes with its own realities. Trying to catch calves for ear tagging with a torn calf muscle and a tight Achilles has been… entertaining to say the least. But somehow, we keep moving.
And that feels true of the whole valley right now. Everything seems to be gathering momentum.
🎪 Valley Fest is building fast
This year’s Valley Fest is shaping up to be one of the biggest we’ve ever had.
And genuinely ticket tiers are now selling out fast.
Every year people wait, and every year we get messages saying:
“I should have booked sooner.”
So if you’re thinking about coming, this is your sign.
Because this isn’t just a festival. It’s a celebration of food, farming, music, creativity and community in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
And Thursday night alone is looking pretty special, you dont want to miss the start.
• The Bluetones
• Fleetwood Bac
• Beatles Dub Club
• Oh My God! It’s The Church and Chemical Prodigies from our very own Farmer DJ
Honestly… wow wow wow.
If you haven’t secured your tickets yet:
🌿 Wake the Valley – Alongside Valley Fest, we’ve also launched something brand new this year: check it out.
This feels important. A gathering of farmers, chefs, thinkers, creatives and land stewards exploring how we build a more regenerative future – not just for farming, but for community, food and culture too.
The response already has been incredible and ticket availability is limited.
Symposium tickets also include access to the Thursday night Valley Fest line-up, which makes it a pretty special way to begin the weekend.
🥩 Meat boxes & local collaboration
Closer to home, our collaboration with the new butchers in the village continues to grow beautifully.
It’s been brilliant seeing meat boxes flying out across Bristol and the surrounding areas, connecting more people back to properly reared, local meat direct from the valley.
There’s something powerful about shortening the distance between farmer and plate. And we’re incredibly grateful for all the support.
🌞 A season that reminds you. Spring always brings perspective.
After winter, you realise how much life depends on light, warmth and patience.
Nothing rushes.
Nothing forces itself.
The land moves when it’s ready.
Maybe there’s something in that for all of us.
It’s a quote that feels especially relevant right now.
“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all.” – Wendell Berry
Everything we’re building – from the farm to the festival to Wake the Valley – really starts with that simple understanding:
Healthy soil.
Healthy food.
Healthy communities.
And hopefully, a healthier future.
See you in the valley,
Luke
